How we build differently
With decades of building experience behind us, our team combines traditional craftsmanship with efficient off-site construction methods. Each cabin is designed to maximise space, natural light, and durability, ensuring that every build feels warm, welcoming, and built to last.
By constructing our cabins in a controlled workshop environment, we are able to maintain consistent quality while significantly reducing build times compared to traditional on-site construction. Once completed, cabins are delivered and positioned on site, making the process simple and straightforward for our customers.
Our cabins are used across New Zealand for a wide range of purposes — from sleepouts and guest accommodation to lifestyle block homes, holiday cabins, and secondary dwellings. Whatever the use, our goal is the same: to provide thoughtfully designed spaces that feel like home from the moment you step inside.

Justin McLean
Founder & Director — Cosy CabinsJustin McLean founded Cosy Cabins with a straightforward vision: make quality, well-designed small homes accessible to everyday New Zealanders. With a background spanning residential construction and project management, Justin saw an opportunity to do things differently.
After years working in the traditional building industry, Justin recognised that off-site construction could deliver a better outcome for customers — greater quality control, faster build times, and a far less stressful experience from start to finish. Cosy Cabins was born from that conviction.
